St Andrew (of the Apple Orchard) is a small rural
parish set in the heart of the Island of Guernsey, it is the
only one of the Island's 10 parishes without a coastline. It
covers an area of 4.4 sq.km and has a population of around 2,400.
Its sheltered valleys have always supported agricultural activity
and in the past large areas were used as orchards for the production
of cider apples (La Pommeraye of the parish name).
The parish is home to two dairy farms, one being the Island's
only organic dairy unit and the other being a leader in the field
of environmental and biodiversity enhancement.
The parish is pleased to have a cider orchard which produces
apples for the local "Rocquette" cider, an enterprise
established in recent years.
